Everyday Sourdough Bread Recipe

This rustic sourdough loaf is a staple in my kitchen. Here’s how I make it step by step.

Ingredients

  • 500g bread flour
  • 350g filtered water (room temp)
  • 100g active sourdough starter
  • 10g salt

Instructions

  • Mix flour, water, and starter. Rest 30 minutes (autolyse).
  • Add salt and mix until combined.
  • Bulk ferment 3–4 hours with stretch & folds every 30 minutes.
  • Shape into a round, proof in a floured basket.
  • Preheat oven + Dutch oven to 475°F.
  • Bake 20 min covered, 25 min uncovered.
  • Cool before slicing (if you can wait!).
